I can certainly live with the colours. But embossed leather applications? This “baroque” heel? And did the cushioning have to be painted as well? Okay, fine. It’s a running shoe, not a fashion statement.

Otherwise, the new model is a pretty typical Kinvara – I think. But there have been some changes in details. First and foremost, of course, there is the new cushioning. The last one was Everrun, which was used as top sole in the Kinvara 10. The new model has a Pwrrun sole and a Pwrrun+ top sole. But from the outside, you can’t see any difference. ;)

The “outsole” still consists of only two reinforced areas at the heel and the big toe. Otherwise, the Pwrrun cushioning has direct contact with the ground. This has basically been the case since the Kinvara 6 and is not a problem. On the contrary: it simply saves weight.

Also the lacing is only slightly changed: the upper holes have been given a “special” reinforcement, while the other pairs of holes are only slightly reinforced.

The heel… I’m not quite sure what the purpose of all this stitching is. But the most important thing is: the heel offers a good hold and is quite comfortably padded for a shoe in this weight class.

At 542 grams, the Kinvara 11 is a real lightweight – but at the same time 5% heavier than its predecessor. Whether this makes a noticeable difference remains to be seen when running.

Running Experience

With every new version of my favourite shoe, of course, the question arises whether anything could be improved at all, or whether there is even deterioration. It is also possible to have both at the same time.

Although I could hardly imagine it, the new Pwrrun cushioning is one of the improvements. Although the difference is rather minimal, it is still noticeable. Pwrrun gives me a little more comfort and at the same time a little more bounce – while still giving me a very good running feeling. So if the extra weight is in the cushioning, that was a good investment. ;)

Interestingly enough, I have a little criticism regarding the lacing. With almost all new shoes the ideal pressure can be found on the first run. With the Kinvara 11 I still sometimes have the feeling that it is tied too tight or too loose. Of course, this can also be due to the change in outside temperatures at the moment.

Conclusion

Favourite Shoe

The Saucony Kinvara remains my favourite shoe even in its eleventh version.
