You’d think it was just a raincoat. But there’s more to it than that…
Sponsored Post: La Psortiva provided me with the products for this review at my request. This had no influence on the content of my post. The article is written indipendently and reflects exclusively my personal experiences.
The Italians’ mountain running jacket comes in five colours, of which the black one shown here is certainly the most discreet. It does, however, have a few surprises in store.
Well, of course I was prepared for the hood. But on closer inspection I found that someone had really thought this through. There is a ribbon at the back of the head to adjust the fit of the cap and a loop at the neck. To hang it up…?
The hood has a small shade that can be adjusted by using the integrated wire. The drawstring runs just below it. A bit deeper is a velcro tab, whose meaning is not obvious.
The hem can also be tightened with a drawstring, so that no wind can reach under the jacket. Here you can also see that the inner material looks more technical and not exactly like a textile skin flatterer.
The whole jacket can be stowed in an inside pocket. The low packing size and weight makes it a good companion for all occasions.
Under the armpits there is an interesting ventilation: the ventilation zones result from overlapping layers of material.
Running Experience
It took me a moment to figure out that the flap on the inside of the hood and the “hanger” in the neck belong together. With the help of these two elements the rolled up cap can be fixed perfectly, so that it does not annoy while walking. If necessary, it is quickly ready for use and fulfils its purpose very well, also because of the visor.
In general I was very surprised by the indoor climate. I had rather expected the typical plastic bag effect: wet outside, wet inside. But this was not the case. La Sportiva doesn’t pass over the material properties away from the water column (10,000 mm). But I can hardly imagine that only the ventilation zones under the armpits are responsible for this.
For whatever reason: for me, the La Sportiva rain jacket worked surprisingly well.
Conclusion
Works!
The La Sportiva Run Jkt is a rain jacket with a small pack size and many well thought-out solutions. It stands out above all because of its easily adjustable hood, but also because of its comfortable inner climate.
