With its Long Summer Shorts, Hot Weather Shorts and American Race Vest, Soar brings stylish performance clothing for hot training days. What makes them special? Airiness, thoughtful cut – and, unfortunately, the usual high price. Is the upgrade still worth it?

Soar Shorts
Soar Long Summer Shorts (205 €)
These long summer shorts aren’t just for running training, but for basically any summer sport. They’re super comfy and made from soft, breathable fabric.
The pockets are located at the front (which is unusual for Soar) and are quite spacious. Heavier items, such as my GoPro, will find a place in them that causes as little movement as possible when running. Nevertheless, you should not try to carry a lot of weight in them.
As the name suggests, the Soar Long Summer Shorts are quite long, reaching down to just above the knee. They are also wide and really airy thanks to the material and laser perforations.
They were always extremely comfortable during my runs, and I particularly liked the length, especially for relaxed and/or long runs. However, I must admit that their functionality may not be exceptional enough to justify the price.
Soar Hot Weather Shorts (175 €)
The Hot Weather Shorts were previously available in the Soar range, but as split shorts. The new version has a similar cut, but also features a striking change in material.
On closer inspection, however, only the colour of the laser-perforated material changes on the back of the trousers. This is also where the zip pocket is located, which can hold a key or a few gels.
As always, the cut and fit of the Hot Weather Shorts are pretty much perfect. The material on the inside of the shorts is long enough to prevent chafing. On the outside, the cut allows plenty of air to reach the skin.
I wore the Soar Hot Weather Shorts not only during training in high temperatures, but also in competition. The laser perforations make the shorts slightly more breathable than the Split Shorts or Run Shorts. But I found this difference to be only marginal.
Soar American Race Vest (130 €)
The American Race Vest is available in three colour combinations. It differs only slightly from the standard Race Vest, which is now available in countless designs.
The material is identical and has long been proven. But the cut is slightly looser and not quite as skin-tight. However, this only applies when dry, because when sweaty, the American Race Vest also sticks to the skin – just as it should. Because that is exactly what leads to the desired cooling effect.
Conclusion
Any criticism I might have of Soar’s products has to be considered nitpicking, as all of their products perform exceptionally well. The materials, cut and design are top notch in my opinion.
Unfortunately, that’s also the price. So you have to think carefully about whether the slightly longer cut trousers are worth the money if you already have some very good Soar trousers in your wardrobe.
