Surprising. That’s the new Salomon Sense Ride 3 in one word.
Sponsored Post: Salomon provided me with the products for this review at my request. This had no influence on the content of my post. The article is written indipendently and reflects exclusively my personal experiences.
At first I was surprised that I got the shoe this early for testing. It will be available in stores not before January 2020 . Luckily that is not too far away. For I didn’t like it less than the Sense Ride two years ago.

[php snippet=1]First impressions
At first sight it is obvious that the Sense Ride 3 is not an aggressive trail shoe for the most difficult terrain. It would even almost pass for a normal street running shoe.
That could be because Salomon designed it exactly like this. It is based on the street shoe standards like comfort and soft cushioning and complements the elements necessary for a trail shoe.
The Contagrip outsole provides the necessary surefootedness on the trails, but can also be used on asphalt.
Of course, the Sense Ride 3 comes with the Salomon-typical quick lacing, which can disappear completely in the pocket on the tongue. The mesh of the upper material should be airy, but at the same time not let dirt through. At the toes, strong Profile-Film-Elements protect against sharp edges on the trail.
At 712 grams for both shoes in my size, the Salomon newcomer is certainly not a lightweight. According to my classification, it even belongs in the half-heavyweight, where the very well cushioned allrounders cavort.
Running experience
Fortunately, the Salomon Sense Ride 3 does not feel like this weight. I did not bother me on any of my trail trips. Actually it was not even an issue at all.
Instead it was about fun while running. Fit and comfort are really great and have surprised me positively. I prefer the even narrower lasts of the S/LAB models and expected to have HotSpots in Sense Ride 3. But this didn’t happen!
I was also very happy about the comfort. The cushioning is good enough that you could wear the shoe every day. But at the same time it is firm enough that you don’t lose contact with the ground. Even at higher speeds I felt comfortable in the shoe.
