Wait a minute? Sunglasses in winter? You can never start preparing for the warm season early enough. And I’ve actually been able to use Turbolence in winter too.

Turbolence
First Impression
Rudy Project has launched a whole new range of sunglasses for runners with the Turbolence glasses. They are available with three different lens technologies.
My test glasses are fitted with the “Polar 3FX” lens. According to Rudy Project, this is equipped with an HDR filter, which is designed to increase contrast in any environment. It also has a hydrophobic layer and is therefore water-repellent. Fingerprints should also be less visible.
Part of the Turbolence glasses is the sweat bar at the top of the frame, which can also be removed depending on preference and usefulness. For me, it was not helpful simply because of the geometry of the glasses in combination with my face shape, so I wore the glasses completely without the sweat bar.
The scope of delivery also includes a neck strap that can be easily clipped into the temple ends. You can easily adjust it to your head circumference using the quick adjustment mechanism, so that the strap can also secure the fit.
Running Experience
I would have preferred one of the polychromatic lenses for testing in winter, because the brightness of the sun is not always the problem. However, the 18% darkening of the Polar 3FX lenses is quite useful if the sun can be seen at all. 😉
When running, the really low weight of 29 grams is particularly noticeable – or not, because you don’t notice the Rudy Project Turbolence on your nose at all. The field of vision is also so large that the edges are not noticeable.
I also found the color rendition and contrast extremely pleasant, because the image behind the lens is very natural. In my rating, I only have to deduct a few points for the fit: due to the geometry, I had to wear the glasses a little “steeper” so that the temples sit slightly above my ears on my head. I’m sure this is mainly due to my thick skull 😉, but it’s a problem I’ve never had with any other model of glasses.
