First Impression

The All Weather Jacket has been an integral part of the Soar collection for years. It has undergone several revisions over the years and is now available in a completely new version. So new that it no longer has much to do with the previous All Weather.

As the name suggests, the jacket is designed for use in all weathers. Although we should certainly exclude summer. However, it is perfect for autumn, winter and spring.

Several properties qualify it for this. Firstly, there is the material: Soar treats it with a water-repellent layer before weaving and applies a second layer to the finished fabric. This makes the All Weather Jacket extremely water-repellent without the need for a membrane.

Thanks to the dense woven structure, the jacket is also very windproof but remains breathable. With the new “Storm2” material, attention has also been paid to durability: it is highly abrasion-resistant.

There are also many new features: we already know the very well-functioning drawstring from the windbreakers. The cuffs can also be adjusted with Velcro. I would have liked to see an additional thumb hole here…

So far, Soar has always worked with Napoleon pockets on the chest and back pockets. For the first time, the new All Weather Jacket has two side pockets at the front, which are ideal for gloves or food.

The water repellent in the back is also very helpful in the rain. It sits below the drawstring and is relatively stiff, so it can do its job very well. It slips a little over the bum so that it doesn’t get wet when running in the rain.

Running Experience

The lack of a hood was already criticised in previous versions of the All Weather Jacket – but not by me. If you want to go running in the rain for hours on end, you should opt for a different model (tip: Soar Nano Rain Jacket). However, if you are surprised by a shower or prolonged rain while out and about, the All Weather Jacket is certainly sufficient.

Instead of the hood, I’m pleased with the redesign of the collar. It’s no longer quite so tight and has been pulled up a little higher. It fits perfectly when running and even leaves room for a tube scarf or something similar.

As already mentioned above, I would have liked a sleeve with a sleeve opening and thumb holes so that I would have been well equipped without gloves. On the other hand, I have nothing to complain about with the front pockets: where I usually find the position of the zips annoying when swinging my arms, Soar does everything right.

Conclusion

Soar All Weather Jacket 2023
Works well!
As you would expect, the new All Weather Jacket is highly functional and an enhancement for every runner. I particularly like the robustness of the material, which doesn't get in the way when running, but will hopefully give the jacket a long service life. At the same time, however, I also mourn the "old" All Weather Jacket, which was a little more performance-orientated.

Hi! It’s me, the Harlerunner.

This is where Thomas Pier writes about running and (much more than just the necessary) equipment. I don't run particularly fast or far. But I like to share my experiences as an ambitious recreational runner, curious early-adopter and as my own trainer.

I am happy about every digital contacting - but even more so about every kilometer run together.
